Forever Be A Medicus!
When I graduated in medical school that was 2003, and I went to a Post Graduate Internship in Manila Adventist Medical Center in Pasay City. I visited my beloved medical school to get some journals to review. I went to the library and a group of medical student who had this black and red Panda ball pen on their right sided chest pocket (left side on the female if I remember). A group of Medicus neophyte who called me Dominus, and I was amazed because they knew my name, roster, batch name, address, birthday, email address, contact numbers and even my mobile number. They ask me to sign on their red and black small notebook which I signed them immediately with this unexplained feeling of elation inside me. I don’t know maybe because these young promising future doctors knew me, or maybe I felt that time that I was very important. It is the same emotion when I exchange a Medicus handshake to brother or sister whom I first met.
Well basically this is it; all of the qualities in a best organization are here. Medici Omnes Duciens Fraternity and Sorority, only one of its kind, the most active alumni and members, and forever be a Medicus.

Medicus Internet History
In 2000, a lot of our brothers and sisters were going to different places of the world and there is no way of reaching each other (I found it out myself). It is then that a yahoogroup at geocities was made and put up so that when you search, you will see something on the Internet to hopefully reach your brods and sis. One by one members found it and register. Since this site was working it was easily filled with pictures, and then there is not enough space (only 3 MB allowed) to put what we want to put in. The only way we can increase our memory availability is to pay, which we cannot afford. It was then that an MSN group account was created and then added as a secondary site.
In October 1, 2001 a website for Medici Omnes Duciens was started at yahoo geocities. The site was upped by the developer and was very impressive (all red). Thanks to a very creative brod who spent a long time putting it up. This site was then maintained by Medicus for Medicus, but our brod who was maintaining the site become so busy with his studies (women, beer) at the time (It is Robin BACOLOR who did it) that there is no time to update it. The site was neglected for a while because no one was able to update the site, not for lack of wanting but because nobody knows how.
Here is what Robin had to say while making the geocities site:
"naaalala ko dati 3rd year ako nyan sa med school (2001), ang gamit ko dati e dial up (56 kbps) minsan nga 32 lang na speed... kaya dinidiskartehan ko madaling araw para wala kang kaagaw sa linya... Dati yan 30-40 web pages tsaka MADUGO sobra... binawasan ko na, ang idea ko lang naman e malagay ang medicus sa google, or yahoo search engine... tsaka ma-i-link natin yung email groups..."
In 2005 members clamor for our own website with our own domain name. Medici Omnes Duciens Website was born, based in the Philippines. This is our main site and mainly used as a bulletin board, some properties of the site is continually added to adapt it to our needs. Unfortunately this main website disappeared late of 2007, MEDICUS lost its Ebulletin board. Since loosing our bulletin board, we lost a vital place of exchange between members. The Alumni during the 25th Anniversary celebration decided to have another forum started, and our Brod William Gerard Vergel de Dios search and established a new Medici Omnes Duciens Forum (this time it is free, with no danger of expiration).
Early of 2007 a Friendster account was made by our sis Maria Isabel LAGRIMAS of CONSEGUENZE FIDA batch, and lately I saw a Medici Omnes Duciens group at friendster in which the listed owner is doc_nancs. I could not see the profile but in my old emails, doc_nancs was Harold Nanquil.
All the old sites were still working, except for the medici omnes duciens website that went offline sometime in November of 2007, because our domain name expires (i tried to renew it but the registry would not allow me). Pictures can still be seen on the yahoo and MSN groups sites. Our yahoo group is in its 7Th year and still used for mass mailing to members, although a lot of the members were bouncing (members please update your emails, to members not yet a member of the yahoogroup, you can use the yahoo group button on the side bar and put your email address on it). You can access the sites on the links in this blog, located on the Medicus Links side bar.
Now we have a blog that was made after several bottles of beer and wine. Yes, we have our old sites and the main site before it disappears but some perceived this as static and only visits once in a while to leave a message, not an interacting site that we can explore and control ourselves. On this Blog, anyone who wanted to post something is very much welcome to do so, it was integrated and hooked to all our sites (yahoogroups, msngroup, friendster, flickr, youTube, pbbforumer, etc...). We have videos from youTube, photo stream from Fickr, link to a health blog, shoutout, etc.. Anything under the sun that can, in one way or another adds or contribute to Medicus and its members, and that even includes our own practical jokes. Just send an email to me and I will send the log in name and password. This Blog is dynamic for it is reshaping itself related to our needs by us, and hopefully utilized by members to its full capability.
i love medicus

25th Anniversary Party Slide
This slide presentation was made of pictures hijacked from our Flickr account (ariel atienza uploaded these pictures, thank you very much). It took some time to do the slide because I am waiting for emails of some more pictures or more pictures being upoaded to our flickr account. I could not wait anymore (the euphoria of the celebration will be fading fast, and its now 2008), but I do hope that more pictures will come ("if you build it, they will come"). If some more pictures showed up I will make another slide presentation for it. I also have a hard time deciding what music to add on it (could not decide between eric clapton's tulsa time and jive bunny's hawai 5 o'). But here it is with Fallout Boy's thank's for the memories.
(just in case the video did not play right, check the bottom of the page and the video is also there as streaming video from youTube)

"KAMUSTA KA NA"
“KAMUSTA KA NA?”
December 29, 2007
7:00 pm
Main Bar, Quezon City Sports Club
E. Rodriquez Avenue, Quezon City
The celebrations for the 25th anniversary was truly a night to remember. 64 of our brothers and sisters of Medicus were there to attend and renew ties with their old friends from the best school organization that has been produced in the MCU-FDTMF College of Medicine. Five of the founding members including Angel Araneta, Eduardo Flores, Teodoro Santos, Rizal Smiley Tan and Emmanuel Tiongson were present to share with one and all the feeling of family that was truly palpable throughout the entire night.
The program started at around 9 pm when the emcee and Alumni President Alex Santos invited everyone to stand up for the singing of the medicus hymn and recitation of the medicus creed. The opening remarks were given by Spike Ignacio after which a power point presentation of Medicus from the early days was given by Butch Tiongson. After this, a video presentation was shown courtesy of Jeffrey Lee showing the pictures of the different batches of the organization from the early years till present. A short speech was given by Eduardo Flores regarding Medicus through the years.
All batches were called individually and members from each batch were asked to go in front of the stage for some picture taking. A minute of silence was given in memory of those who have passed on. And finally a short speech from Angel Araneta capped the night, sharing his thoughts on the essence of what dedication, service and brotherhood truly meant in the lives of those who have committed themselves to the noble principles of this brotherhood.
The closing remark was given by our sister Brigida Estabillo who was in Manila for a vacation and came all the way from California, USA. She is now practicing as a pediatric anesthesiologist in her area of responsibility.
After the end of the program, a business meeting was held to get the feedback of the alumni on how best the members may be contacted for future events of the organization. The body decided to elect an eight man Board of Trustees who will decide on the future of the alumni organization as a whole. After the meeting, the emcee bid all farewell and everyone left feeling “bitin”. Friends and small clicks went out to spend the rest of the night somewhere in the still open clubs around the Quezon City area.
We wished the Medicus Alumni Association USA Chapter the happiest new year and the most prosperous for all. We thanked Alex Pineda who has shown his commitment with the fraternity/sorority by coming up with the medicus blog.

Mabuhay ang Medicus! Keep the fire burning!
25 years of existence only proves that Medicus is indeed the best school organization in the MCU-FDTMF College of Medicine. The reunion has shown to one and all that Medicus is a family worth coming back to and it seems that Medicus will continue to thrive in the years to come because of that vision and mission to which the founding members have aspired from the start of the inception of this noble group to this very day.
Medicine Channels for All.
Happy 2008!
