6 Mar 08, 16:05christine: miss u all brods and sis! I am happy doc alex is really sacrificing to bond us all with this site. MOD 405! Godbless

maraming salamat

What is MEDICUS for me?

(Article taken from MEDICUS NEWSLETTER September 1986)

Won't it be interesting to know how our former "bata & nenes" looked at MEDICUS before they were finally accepted?

Here are some of their answers when they were asked, "What is MEDICUS for me".

" I see MEDICUS as an organization of real brotherhood. Unity among members is noticeable, with the way they group themselves, eat together, discuss problems and laugh together...

MEDICUS made me realize a lot of things: that I can't make it all by myself, that I have talents to share and I can do certain things, I never thought I can do. I've got a lot of things to be thankful of and I'm glad I came to know MEDICUS"
Doree C Villamar

"...Unity, I think is the strong point of MEDICUS and beneath this unity are a lot of factors; dedication, service and brotherhood. MEDICUS has become a part of me and I'm happy to be a part of it."
Cindy C. Santos

"... The members are trying, striving to ultimately uplift the organization. It is the "effort" of the members that gives its importance. It is their solidarity that anchor their roots to the very ground. I know I couldn't offer much, If ever I become a member, but I guess I could strive to offer a hand if ever I'm needed..."

NEWSLetter

A newsletter is a regularly distributed publication generally about one main topic that is of interest to its subscibers. Newspapers and leaflets are types of newsletters. Additionally, newsletters delivered electronically via email (e-Newsletters) have gained rapid acceptance for the same reasons email in general is gaining popularity over printed correspondence.
Many newsletters are published by clubs, churches, societies, associations, and businesses, especially companies to provide information of interest to their members, customers or employees. Some newsletters are created as money-making ventures and sold directly to subscribers. Sending newsletters to customers and prospects is a common marketing strategy, which can have benefits and drawbacks. General attributes of newsletters include news and upcoming events of the related organization, as well as contact information for general inquiries.

Medicus have a newsletter of its own published and circulated in MCU during our time (84-89). I do not know if it continues to this day. As I went home, and look for old pictures. I found old invitations, old pictures and then come up with old newsletters of MEDICUS.

I will try to post excerpts from our old newsletters so that others may remember and new ones will see what it was like then.

A Visit

I went to visit MCU during my vacation and met some of our brods and sis. I never met them before (except for one) and I do not actually know them. But all of us were Medicus. We mingle and talk like long lost friends. I did not stay for long but seems that I know them for a long time. I think this is one of the reason that Medicus was founded. If it is just MCU to go back to, I probably would not visit. But it is our frat-soro, brod and sis that we go back to.

I tried to take some pictures of the campus but the security guards would not allow me. They asked me to get permision from the administration first. I could not possibly do that, even if I wanted to. This was due to my hectic schedule, I only had a few minutes to spare. I do not have enough time to go through the bureaucracy. I only have the time to get a quick shot of our bulletin board, our tambayan, and the parking lot. I also took some photos of our brods and sis that I met on that very short time at MCU Hospital. I uploaded the pictures to my smugmug account, and here is the link for all to see (you can also download it in its full resolution). The pictures were not edited and some were too dark and not nice to look at (they were dark and uneven it is just a small camera that i took it with). I will try to do some tweaking and perhaps upload better ones (when I had the time). I will try to upload it too to our Flickr account after I'm finished with all the editing that I wanted to do (hopefully i can do it before the year end).
